Gurriers – Top of the Bill
Gurriers has just released a new single called “Top Of The Bill”. It’s part of their debut album “Come And See”, which is set to drop on September 13th. This band from Ireland has been getting a lot of attention lately, and this new track shows why.
“Top Of The Bill” is an interesting one. The lead singer, Dan Hoff, describes it as a “distorted love story” and a warning to himself about who he could have become. That’s pretty deep stuff for a debut album.
What strikes me about this song is how it plays with the idea of a love song. It’s not your typical romantic tune – there’s something more complex going on here. The guitar work has a post-punk feel to it, but there’s also something that reminds me of early indie rock.
The fact that they only needed 12 takes to get the video right is pretty impressive. It shows that these guys are tight as a band and know what they’re doing.
