BICEP – CHROMA 004 ROLA

BICEP’s latest single, “CHROMA 004 ROLA,” continues their ambitious CHROMA project, which includes a record label, curated parties, and a revamped AV/DJ show. This track, premiered at their 15,000-capacity Drumsheds takeover, captures a darker, heavier sound. The Belfast duo of Andrew Ferguson and Matthew McBriar describe “ROLA” as a club-centric roller featuring sharp, laser-accurate synths framed by techno-rooted futurism.

The CHROMA project allows BICEP to explore music outside the traditional album cycle, focusing purely on tracks designed for DJ sets. “We wanted something dark and heavy to play as our first tune, a stark departure from the Live show,” the duo explains. This track epitomizes the project’s goal of creating dancefloor-focused music with a specific idea in mind.

“ROLA” strips down unnecessary elements, shining with its booming kick, memorable vocal line, and gnarly bass growls. As the track progresses, it transforms into a fast-paced, breakbeat-led heater, incorporating more ad-lib synth leads. The visuals for CHROMA are crafted by Terrain studio’s David Rudnick, enhancing the project’s immersive experience.
