Washed Out – Waking Up

Ernest Greene, known as Washed Out, has unveiled a stunning new visual for his track “Waking Up” from the forthcoming album Notes From a Quiet Life, set to release on June 28th via Sub Pop Records. This video, a one-take performance filmed during the full totality of the solar eclipse on April 8th, 2024, captures the ethereal and immersive essence of Greene’s music.

The performance, directed by Jonah Haber, took place in Bandera, Texas, and showcases the extraordinary moment when the moon completely blocked the Sun, plunging the location into a surreal twilight. This natural phenomenon creates a unique backdrop for Greene’s introspective and expansive soundscapes, allowing viewers to fully disengage from the outside world and immerse themselves in the music.

“Waking Up” embodies the pioneering spirit of Notes From a Quiet Life, with Greene’s amorphous vocals and wistful storytelling floating over expansive soundscapes. This performance highlights the beauty and unpredictability of nature, adding a profound layer to the already captivating track.
