Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Frogs

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds return with “I Just Needed You To Know,” an evocative track that draws listeners into a dark and introspective journey. Released under Play It Again Sam, this single showcases the band’s signature blend of poignant lyrics and atmospheric production.

The creation of “Wild God,” the album housing this track, began with the epic “Frogs.” The first lyrics Cave penned, referencing the biblical story of Cain and Abel, set a powerful tone: “Ushering in the week he knelt down and crushed his brother’s head in with a bone / It’s my great privilege to walk you home.” This vivid imagery permeates the album, culminating in the deeply personal “I Just Needed You To Know.”

Nick Cave himself finds joy in the sheer exuberance of the album’s music, stating, “The sheer exuberance of a song like ‘Frogs,’ it just puts a big fucking smile on my face.” The same emotional intensity flows through “I Just Needed You To Know,” making it a standout piece in their discography.

Recorded in Provence and London, and produced by Cave alongside Warren Ellis, “Wild God” promises to be a compelling addition to Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ repertoire. The new single is out now, adding to the anticipation for the full album release on August 30.
