Adult DVD – Real Tree Lee
Leeds six-piece Adult DVD just signed to Fat Possum Records and dropped “Real Tree Lee” as their first single on the label. Produced by Danny Blackburn at The Nave Studios, the track takes aim at internet-poisoned masculinity with a strobing synth-punk banger.
The band—Harry Hanson (lead vocals/synth), Greg Lonsdale (vocals/synth), Danny Blackburn (guitar/synth), Jake Williams (synth), Jonathan Newell (drums), and George Manson (bass)—built the track around a relentless synth riff and pumping beat. Hanson’s monotone British delivery contrasts with the music’s sharp edges and unexpected turns, creating a danceable tension that lands in mosh pit territory.
According to the band, Lee is “a guy that we never want to become”—someone who spends too much time in the darker corners of the internet, believes every conspiracy theory, and lives fearing 5G. The character allegedly took his kids out of school, found religion after a crack addiction in 1983, owns guns he never learned to shoot, and makes illegal diesel in his shed. What you see isn’t what you get, and what you get is darker than expected.
