Juni Habel – Evergreen In Your Mind
Norwegian singer-songwriter Juni Habel releases “Evergreen In Your Mind”, the title track from her third album dropping April 7th via Basin Rock. Her first album in three years follows the breakthrough success of 2023’s “Carvings” LP.
Habel recorded the album with co-producer Stian Skaaden in quiet corners of her home and on the piano at the school where she works, using the physical world around her for percussion. The eleven songs exist in two worlds: the concrete reality of recording locations and an imagined dream space where oneness with each other and the environment is realised.
“Evergreen In Your Mind” features spartan folk musicality from rural Norway. Spider-like acoustic guitar lines serve as a foil to Habel’s subtle yet striking vocals. She describes the song as nostalgic: looking back and realising things will be different, visualising something beautiful you keep clinging to.
Habel’s minimalist approach to folk-rooted songwriting comes from a highly personal space. The songs sit in half-light, in the gap between where we are and where we might be.
