Merrill Garbus and Nate Brenner pulled this from the “Better Dreaming” recording sessions, but it feels like it’s a statement. The duo talks about matching “the overconfidence of backwards tyrannical overlords with the confidence of mid-career artists in the zone” and “Sand Into Stone” backs up that confidence with tight production and undeniable groove.
