Lucrecia Dalt – no death no danger
Lucrecia Dalt drops “no death no danger”, the final single from her album “A Danger to Ourselves” which arrives tomorrow via RVNG Intl. The track leans into what she calls “haunted elegance”, with her voice winding through stark verses before opening into a strange refrain lifted by Eliana Joy’s backing vocals.
Conceptually inspired by Jean Cocteau’s film “Orpheus” with hints of Medusa mythology, Dalt explains it’s “about the tension of deciding to cross the portal behind one’s image”. She sings about tears rising behind mirrored doors and love happening as waves on receivers. The accompanying video comes from Tony Lowe’s direction.
“A Danger to Ourselves” strips away the fictional narratives of her previous albums for emotional sincerity. Written during tour for “¡Ay!” and early moments of a new relationship, each composition reveals vulnerability across new harmonic territories. The album features collaborations with David Sylvian (who co-produced), Juana Molina, Camille Mandoki, and Eliana Joy, built on Alex Lázaro’s dynamic drum loops. The album is featured on my September spotlight list for separate review.
