Murs – Chopper (thisisnotanantipolicesongthisisanantipolicehelicoptersong) (feat. Reverie)

After two decades in hip-hop, Murs delivers ‘Chopper (thisisnotanantipolicesongthisisanantipolicehelicoptersong)’ featuring Reverie from his final album ‘Love & Rockets 3:16 (The Emancipation)’. Producer Jesse Shatkin, who’s worked with Sia and Rihanna, handles the production duties on what Murs calls his farewell project.

‘Chopper’ centers on police helicopters circling LA neighborhoods, with Murs drawing from his experience running the LA Marathon in honor of Nipsey Hussle. The track features his signature storytelling over Shatkin’s production, mixing personal narrative with broader social commentary. Murs’ flow remains sharp as he details how the sound of helicopters triggered his fight-or-flight response even during a peaceful marathon run.

The song comes from the third and final chapter of his Love & Rockets trilogy, produced entirely by Grammy-winner Shatkin at the Ribcage studio. Mixed by Shatkin and mastered by Ruairi O’Flaherty at Nomograph Mastering, the track represents Murs at his most direct and uncompromising.

Before stepping away from rap, Murs hits the road for “The Last Run Tour,” giving fans a final chance to see the LA veteran perform. ‘Love & Rockets 3:16 (The Emancipation)’ serves as both a conclusion and a celebration of a great career. This standout track from the fantastic album will be featured in our Week 33 Album Spotlight. For an artist who’s spent over twenty years as hip-hop’s everyman philosopher, this feels like the sendoff he’s earned.
