Water From Your Eyes – Life Signs
Water From Your Eyes delivers ‘Life Signs’, the lead single from their upcoming album ‘It’s A Beautiful Place’, arriving August 22nd via Matador Records.
The track cycles between threatening and resigned moods, with Amos delivering palm-muted arpeggios that morph into grungy blasts while Brown narrates deadpan, surrealist observations. Her vocals maintain that signature falsetto innocence that puts a sweet glaze over existential pain – ‘I am coming apart / I’m becoming together / True to form’ – suggesting that falling apart and pulling yourself together might be the same process.
Mainly recorded in Amos’s bedroom under the watchful eye of a tattered Robin Williams poster, the album maintains their DIY aesthetic while expanding their sonic palette. This time they’re imagining venues bigger than basements, which feels like appropriate growth for a band that’s mastered making bedroom recordings sound cosmic.
