Chartreuse – I’m Losing It
With their latest single, Chartreuse peel back the polite small talk and deliver something far messier and more real. Written by pianist and vocalist Hattie Wilson after major surgery, the track dives into the loop of fear, guilt, and not-so-helpful internal narratives that come with suddenly needing help to do basic things, like walk.
The verses live in that claustrophobic headspace: questions on repeat, timelines that don’t make sense, and a strange kind of isolation in the middle of a fully functioning world. The song isn’t heavy-handed. It’s soft, but not sugar-coated. Recorded in Iceland with producer Sam Petts-Davies, it carries a quiet tension, layered with skittering percussion and Hattie’s steady, precise delivery. Her voice doesn’t tremble, but it doesn’t hide either.
“I’m Losing It” isn’t about resolution. It’s about the moment before—the emotional static between fear and recovery, doubt and trust. It happens when your body is failing and your brain decides to do its thing, too. And yet, through it all, Chartreuse manages to shape that weight into something disarmingly beautiful.
