Frankie Cosmos – Bitch Heart
Frankie Cosmos continues their evolution from Greta Kline’s bedroom project to a fully realized band with “Bitch Heart,” the second single from their forthcoming album “Different Talking,” set for release June 27th via Sub Pop Records. The track exemplifies this transformation, beginning as delicate, humming bedroom-pop before blossoming into a more muscular indie rock workout.
While Kline’s intensely songwriting remains the core of Frankie Cosmos’ identity, “Bitch Heart” showcases how the current four-piece line up—consisting of Kline, Alex Bailey, Katie Von Schleicher, and Hugo Stanley—has expanded and enriched the project’s sonic palette. The song explores the tension between domesticated comforts and primal wildness, what director Eliza Lu Doyle describes as “a yearning for a more feral time—before you touched your fucking phone all day.”
“Different Talking” represents a significant milestone for the band, marking their first self-produced effort without external producers. This newfound autonomy reflects the band’s cohesiveness, with Von Schleicher noting, “We’d go to any length to get Greta’s songs right, and she’s generous with songs, so we have a lot of freedom to arrange them.” Though Kline remains the primary songwriter, it would be reductive to view Frankie Cosmos as merely her solo vehicle—the arrangements are collaborative efforts.
The release of “Bitch Heart” comes alongside the announcement of an extensive world tour supporting “Different Talking.” North American dates will run from September 3rd through October 25th, with two legs featuring different supporting acts. Fantasy Of A Broken Heart and Moontype will join for the first segment (September 3-20), while Chris Cohen and Emily Yacina will support the second leg (October 9-25). Following their North American run, the band will head to the UK and Europe for seven shows with Babehoven as main support, including their sole German date at Berlin’s Lido on November 25th.
