SOFT PLAY – Slushy (feat. Kate Nash)

SOFT PLAY is expanding its musical universe with “Slushy,” a fiery collaboration featuring Kate Nash that leads the charge for its upcoming extended album HEAVIER JELLY, set to drop April 18th, 2025. This expanded version adds six new tracks to last year’s critically acclaimed HEAVY JELLY, which became the band’s highest-charting album, reaching #3 on the UK charts.

“Slushy” showcases a raw proto-punk energy where Nash and SOFT PLAY’s Isaac Holman trade sharp, biting call-and-response vocals, continuing a creative partnership that began when Nash featured on “Telephobia” from Holman’s Baby Dave project—first premiered on BBC 6Music via Craig Charles, the track crackles with the untamed garage-rock spirit that defines SOFT PLAY’s sound.

HEAVIER JELLY isn’t simply a collection of leftovers—these tracks were serious contenders for the original album but were omitted because of their experimental nature. As guitarist Laurie Vincent explains: “These songs are the bastard children of Heavy Jelly, strange experimentations/delusions that didn’t fit the mould. I’m excited for our fans to get a glimpse into some more music that came from the world of Heavy Jelly. Strap in.”

2025 is shaping up to be a massive touring year for SOFT PLAY, with their first North American dates since 2018 scheduled for April, including performances at Coachella on April 13th and 20th. They’ll play several shows as special guests to Kneecap alongside headline gigs, including sold-out dates in Brooklyn and Toronto. The band will then return to the UK and Europe for a summer of international festivals and outdoor shows.
