Calibro 35 – Reptile Strut

Italy’s Calibro 35 have unleashed “Reptile Strut,” an instrumental track that serves as the first taste of their upcoming album, Exploration. The album, set for release on June 6th via Record Kicks, marks their return to the independent label after their 2023 Universal Music release, “Nouvelles Aventures.”

This break – beat-heavy jazz-funk number showcases the extraordinary synergy between band members Tommaso Colliva, Enrico Gabrielli, Massimo Martellotta, and Fabio Rondanini, with Roberto Dragonetti handling bass duties.

The title references the green lizard—a creature known for its quick movements, snappy gait, and tendency to change pace unexpectedly. As the band explains, “Reptile Strut starts from this premise. It has a precise DNA, that is, the passion for groove but also the desire to experiment that determines a continuous change of pace, of styles, of musical worlds to explore in constant mutation.” This philosophy perfectly encapsulates the track’s essence—simultaneously rock-solid and kaleidoscopic, a jazz/rock hybrid that refuses to stay in one lane.
