James Krivchenia – Probably Wizards (with Sam Wilkes)
James Krivchenia moves further into experimental territory with Probably Wizards, the first single from his upcoming Performing Belief album. Teaming up with electric bassist Sam Wilkes and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Abrams, Krivchenia crafts a percussion-driven piece that exists somewhere between free jazz, ambient music, and deconstructed electronics.
Built on an intricate network of field recordings, drum machines, and organic percussion, Probably Wizards pulses with a loose, unquantized rhythm that feels alive. Wilkes’ basslines weave through the chaos, grounding the track while still leaving room for its unpredictable textures to unfold.
Set for release on May 2 via Planet Mu, Performing Belief continues Krivchenia’s fascination with unconventional sound sources. Where Blood Karaoke was built from YouTube samples, this new project turns field recordings and live instrumentation into something fluid, intricate, and constantly in motion.
