Pan Amsterdam – Confines

Pan Amsterdam, the inventive alias of Leron Thomas, returns with Confines, the title track from his upcoming album, out May 23 via Heavenly Recordings. The track blends hip-hop, jazz, and electronic textures into a sound mosaic.

Thomas describes the writing process as an unfiltered stream of consciousness, mirroring the experience of endlessly scrolling through social media. The verses shift from one thought to another without pause, capturing the “hypernormalization” of constant information intake. But rather than being passively consumed by it, Confines consciously acknowledges the cycle, turning it into an art form rather than an unconscious habit.

Musically, the track unfolds his signature muted trumpet makes its presence felt, threading through the composition with a warm, organic contrast to the song’s sharper electronic elements. As Confines progresses, the trumpet gradually emerges from its muted state, revealing a full-bodied tone by the end.

Pan Amsterdam refuses to be boxed in, and Confines makes that clear both in sound and storytelling.
