Mark Pritchard & Thom Yorke – Back in the Game
Well, well, well… look who’s back in the game. Mark Pritchard and Thom Yorke have finally emerged from their creative cocoon with a track that first teased audiences during Yorke’s Everything Tour. This isn’t their first dance together – these two have been circling each other’s orbit since 2011 when Pritchard put his spin on Radiohead’s “Bloom,” followed by Yorke lending his vocals to Pritchard’s “Beautiful People” in 2016.
In this latest offering, Pritchard takes Yorke’s already otherworldly vocals and runs them through an H910 Harmonizer because, apparently, Yorke’s natural voice wasn’t quite alien enough. The result? A sound that floats somewhere between digital distortion and haunting beauty.
The song marks their first proper collaboration since their 2016 venture, though they’ve kept busy in between. Yorke’s been particularly active with The Smile, releasing “Cutouts” in 2024, while simultaneously maintaining his trademark indifference toward Radiohead reunion speculation. When asked about potential Radiohead activities, Yorke’s response was characteristically direct: he “really doesn’t give a flying fuck” – which might be the most rock’n’roll thing you can say when you’re actually busy making experimental electronic music.
