That’s exactly what happened with F.U., the latest collaboration between Jamie xx and Erykah Badu, now available digitally as part of the deluxe edition of In Waves. Initially, this track—along with Do Something—was exclusive to the physical version of the album, but now it’s finally out for streaming.

The backstory? A party at Primavera Festival, where both Jamie and Badu were performing. Mid-set, Badu’s equipment failed completely, leaving her with nothing but a mic. Instead of stopping, she delivered an impromptu, expletive-laced vocal performance that Jamie, watching from the crowd, captured on his iPhone. Fast forward to the In Waves sessions, and that raw moment transformed into F.U., a storming house track that blends Jamie’s sharp electronic production with Badu’s spontaneous energy.
