Shannon & The Clams – Wax & String
Shannon & The Clams return with “Wax & String,” a fuzzed-out, energetic garage-rock track that wrestles with the profound ways we attach meaning to objects. Inspired by personal loss and the haunting presence of things left behind, guitarist Cody Blanchard channels deeply emotional reflections.
Blanchard describes the track as an exploration of humanity’s innate compulsion toward superstition and the emotional weight we give to otherwise mundane items—a teddy bear, a pocketknife, or a sacred idol. The inspiration stems from the heartbreaking experience of revisiting the belongings of Shannon Shaw’s late fiancé, Joe Haener, and confronting the psychic presence of his everyday objects.
The track is part of the forthcoming The Moon Is In The Wrong Place (Deluxe Edition), out February 28 via Easy Eye Sound. The deluxe release includes two previously unreleased songs, “Wax & String” and “I’m A Fool,” available digitally and as a limited 7” vinyl on March 7.
