Echolalia – Odd Energy
Echolalia emerges from an unexpected collaboration in a 12th-century abbey on the Isle of Wight. This gathering of Nashville musicians, led by pedal steel master Spencer Cullum (Miranda Lambert, Rich Ruth) and organized by Jordan Lehning, chose to leave behind Music City’s conventions for something more organic.
In Chale Abbey, a renovated monastery from 1160, the group embraced a different approach to recording. No headphones, no isolation booths, no charts – just musicians responding to each other in real time. Joined by multi-instrumentalists Eli Beaird, Juan Solorzano, and sound engineer Jason Lehning, they created something that defies easy categorization.
The result is their self-titled album “Echolalia”, arriving February 28th via Full Time Hobby. Their first single “Odd Energy” captures the essence of their approach – pastoral yet psychedelic, familiar yet unexpected. It’s a testament to what can happen when skilled musicians step away from industry conventions and embrace creative freedom.
