World News – Mindsnap
World News, the British indie rock band, is back with a new single turning heads. “Mindsnap” is the title track from their upcoming EP, and it’s a bit of a departure from their earlier sound. If you loved their Escape EP earlier this year, you’re in for a surprise.
“Mindsnap” takes World News in a darker, more gothic direction, but don’t worry – those signature sparkling guitars are still very much present, creating an interesting contrast with the darker elements.
Rory Evans, one of the band’s songwriters, says the track came together from riffs floating around for a while. They initially put it together as an instrumental piece, but the neurotic vibe of the music matched Evans’ headspace at the time, inspiring the lyrics.
The band’s creative process is fascinating – they often write unconsciously, bringing ideas to the room and jamming them out without much discussion. With “Mindsnap”, it seems they hit on something special right away.
