Revival Season – Dim Sum
Revival Season has just served up their latest offering, “Dim Sum,” a standalone single that follows their critically acclaimed debut “Golden Age of Self Snitching.”
Jonah Swilley, one half of the duo, explains that the title “Dim Sum” goes beyond its culinary connotations, aiming to “touch the heart” – a nod to the literal translation from Cantonese. This metaphorical approach to titling reflects the band’s penchant for layered meanings in their work.
At a concise two and a half minutes, “Dim Sum” manages to pack a significant punch. The duo continues to blur the lines between various underground hip-hop styles, creating a sound that defies easy categorization.
As Revival Season prepares for their upcoming UK and Irish tour dates, “Dim Sum” serves as both a standalone piece and a bridge between their debut and what’s to come. It’s a warm, feel-good record that, in the band’s words, aims to nourish not just its creators but also its listeners.
“Dim Sum” is certainly worth a listen. It’s available now through Heavenly Recordings.
