High Pulp – Never In My Short Sweet Life (feat. MonoNeon) [Makaya McCraven Remix]
Seattle’s experimental jazz crew High Pulp is back with something fresh. They’ve just dropped a remix of their track “Never In My Short Sweet Life”, and it’s pretty wild.
The original track featured MonoNeon, who’s known for his funky bass playing and colorful style. But this remix takes things in a whole new direction, thanks to Makaya McCraven. If you’re not familiar with McCraven, he’s a drummer and producer who’s been pushing the boundaries of jazz for years now.
High Pulp has always been about blending different sounds and styles. They call themselves experimental jazz, but that doesn’t really capture the full picture. Their music often incorporates elements of electronic, funk, and even psychedelic rock.
This remix is a great example of their collaborative spirit. You’ve got High Pulp’s original composition, MonoNeon’s bass wizardry, and then McCraven comes in and reconstructs the whole thing.
McCraven’s known for his unique approach to remixing. He doesn’t just add a beat or tweak the EQ. Instead, he often completely deconstructs tracks and rebuilds them from the ground up. It’ll be interesting to hear how he’s approached this High Pulp track.
