Nas & DJ Premier – Define My Name

Nas & DJ Premier – Define My Name

Today marks the 30th anniversary of Nas’ groundbreaking debut, ‘Illmatic’. In celebration, Nas has teamed up with DJ Premier, one of the original producers of ‘Illmatic’, to release a brand new track, “Define My Name.” This release coincides with the announcement of an upcoming collaborative album between the two, set to be released later this year. “Define My Name” is released via Nas’ Mass Appeal Records and brings back the essence of their early work together, with Premier having produced seminal tracks on ‘Illmatic’ such as “N.Y. State of Mind,” “Memory Lane (Sittin’ in da Park),” and “Represent.” The track continues in the vein of their classic style, a perfect blend of Nas’ sharp lyrical prowess and Premier’s unmatched production skills. Additionally, Nas is also releasing ‘Illmatic: Remixes & Rarities’ as a Record Store Day exclusive. With this flurry of activity, Nas is not only revisiting his roots but also paving the way for new explorations in hip-hop with his long-time collaborator. The duo’s history of influential albums extends beyond ‘Illmatic’ to other projects including ‘It Was Written’, ‘I Am…’, ‘Nastradamus’, and ‘Stillmatic’.
